Sri Lanka

The island of Sri Lanka lies in the Indian Ocean, to the southwest of the Bay of Bengal. It is separated from the Indian subcontinent by the Gulf of Mannar and the Palk Strait. Sri Lanka is a delightful island situated in the southern tip of India just 6 degrees north of the equator. A continental island in Indian Ocean, It has a high rate of endemism (species found nowhere else in the world). Island can be divided as follows regions

  • The Low-Country Wet Zone
  • The Central Hill Zone
  • The Intermediate Zone
  • The Arid Zone
The regions result from the interactions of rainfall and topography. Rainfall is affected by monsoons that bring rain during two seasons: the south-west monsoon (May-August) and the north-east monsoon (October-January).
The climate of Sri Lanka can be described as tropical and warm. Its position between 5 and 10 north latitude endows the country with a warm climate moderated by ocean winds and considerable moisture. The mean temperature ranges from about 16 °C (60.8 °F) in the Central Highlands, where frost may occur for several days in the winter, to a maximum of approximately 33 °C (91.4 °F) in other low-altitude areas. The average yearly temperature ranges from 28 °C (82.4 °F) to nearly 31 °C (87.8 °F). Day and night temperatures may vary by 4 °C (7.20 °F) to 7 °C (12.60 °F).
It’s s a fascinating destination for  bird watching, with 444 bird species can be seen here 33 Species endemic ,rest comprising resident & Migrants, Most of Endemic birds recorded  In Singheraja World Heritage Site except Sri Lanka Bush Warbler,it’s rich place to observe birds Mixed Species feeding flocks, Kithulgala & Bodhingala also rich canopy for endemics, Bundala,Anavilundawa & Yala East  vegetation inviting  more waders  flocks , during November-April when the northern winter migrants supplement the islands resident birds and is most likely to produce good numbers and great birding.
Usually birding day will be start pre breakfast to catching more birds early morning,during the long walk provide refreshments ,in order to save the time accommodations will be provide near the site which include Holyday bungalow ,Rest-house, Nature Resort, Colonial rest house ect, High quality of dining experiences complement great birding in this excellent holiday with a fine mix of western and eastern delicacies from Sri Lankan rice and curry to international buffet dinners. 

While you are visiting Please refrain from
·         Collecting or destroying wild flowers & ornamental plants, some plants do not grow anywhere else that place may be you don’t know it
·         Getting closer to or disturbing animals because that place it’s home
·         Throwing garbage, cigarette butts or live matches such alien things destroy the cleaning of the forest & harmfully to poor animals.
·         Lighting fire, which causes wildfire & burns the forest & animals
·         Making noise that disturb wild animals & birds
·         Silence is golden-Plying musical instrument, Radio will disturb wild animal
·         Bathing & emitting waste natural water, do not destroy it’s purity
·         Burning firearms, life of a wild animal also must be respect
·           Damaging or disturbing the physical environmental vandalism stems from a mental disorder,
·           Remain the area beyond the permitted hours is additional administration disturb,
·         Do not bring alcoholic drinks to the place
